The Rabbit, The Toad, and The Road...

I had to do something. My incessant warnings to, “stay out of the street,” went ignored or forgotten. It was time for drastic measures! It was story time! Visual association, yeah, that’s the ticket!
As I told my story, to wide eyes and mouths agape, I knew they'd learned a lesson, and from the street they would be safe!

The Rabbit, The Toad, and The Road...

There was a scheming rabbit
Hopping all around the road
When he came upon his friend
The foolhardy Mr. Toad.

Said the scheming rabbit
To foolhardy Mr. Toad
“What a lovely day today,
To hop up and down the road!”

The foolhardy Mr. Toad
Thought that it would be so sweet
“But, Mama always told me,
To "Stay - Out - Of - The - Street!”

The sly and scheming rabbit
Smiled sweetly at the toad
“Oh, but this is not a street,
Just a lovely country road!”

With that the scheming rabbit
Hopped down the country road
And who was right beside him?
The foolhardy Mr. Toad!

It happened without warning,
A speeding car was on the road.
It hit the scheming rabbit,
And then the foolhardy toad!

The rabbit flew up high
He lost his hair in flight
The wheel had squished the toad
Oh, what a tragic sight!

The moral of this story

Whether you are young or old,

STAY OUT OF THE ROAD OR STREET!

As you are A-L-W-A-Y-S told!
